Toshiba International (Europe) Ltd
Toshiba International ( Europe ) Ltd (TIL) is a wholly owned subsidiary of its Japanese parent company, Toshiba Corporation. Based in West Drayton, close to London's Heathrow airport, it is a UK registered company representing the Toshiba Power Systems & Services Company, and providing European Procurement services. TIL undertook to achieve certification to BS OHSAS 18001:2007 to meet the demand of customers who required qualification of Toshiba's commitment to Health and Safety: Toshiba Corporation is committed to achieving ISO 18001 on a worldwide basis. TIL engaged The Quality Team to assist them in developing and implementing the required management system.
The Quality Team provided two consultants who worked with TIL staff to develop and implement the new system. They performed a gap analysis between existing systems and the requirements of the standard. They then assisted in developing the management system, incorporating existing practice where possible, and helped with the implementation of the system, including the provision of staff training, the conducting of risk assessments and internal audits and the implementation of corrective and preventive actions where necessary.
Toshiba already have a relationship with LRQA for certification, and they were engaged to certify the system to OHSAS 18001:2007. One of The Quality Team consultants attended the certification audits and ensured all the actions from the first audit had been addressed before the second (final) audit was performed.
Toshiba International (Europe) Ltd successfully gained certification in early 2009.
