PITO (Police Information Technology Organisation)

The Police Information Technology Organisation (PITO) is a public sector agency operating as a non-departmental government body.  PITO supports the UK Police and other criminal justice organisations in reducing crime and administering justice more effectively by providing information and communication technology solutions.

The Client Requirement

The Quality Team were engaged by PITO as part of a Quality Assurance Team who developed the management systems to ISO 9001:2000 TickIT certification.  Working alongside the permanent staff, this entailed the alignment of existing systems with new proesses and facilitating their implementation throughout this large IT project management organisation.

What has been achieved

ISO 9001:2000 TickIT certification was achieved on target in June 2006.  The Quality Team's work continues within PITO helping to promote best practice in the areas of project and programme assurance in the lead up to the transition of these projects and programmes to the new agency National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA).
