ISO 27001 (previously BS 7799-2:2005) - Information Security Standard

ISO 27001 is the internationally recognised standard for information security.  Without information, businesses would not be able to function.  Information can be printed or written on paper, held electronically and transmitted by email or post.  This information is vulnerable to both abuse and theft.  Threats and damage can originate from either internal or external sources and can be deliberate or accidental.  As we increasingly rely on the use of information, vulnerability increases and threats increase continuously.  Many companies are now choosing to implement an information security management system in order to face and reduce those threats.
