AS/EN 9100 - Aerospace StandardsIn 1998 the major aerospace suppliers and associations from the Americas, Asia and Europe formed the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG) to foster initiatives for quality improvement and cost reductions for the benefit of the industry globally. As a result, AS/EN 9100 was developed. This was based on the quality system requirement of ISO 9000:1994 and has subsequently been developed to align with ISO 9001:2000. AS/EN 9100 has all the requirements of ISO 9001:2000 but with the additional clauses considered essential for aerospace manufacturing. Emphasis is placed on those areas deemed to have the greatest impact on safety, reliability and regulatory compliance for aerospace products. The development of this standard has resulted in the opportunity for standardisation and improvement within the aerospace sector.
