BS 25999-1 - Continuity Planning Standard

BS 25999 is published in two parts:

  • Part one, BS 25999-1 (which was published in late 2006)  is the code of practice for business continuity management
  • Part two, BS 25999-2 (which is to be published later this year) is the specification for business continuity management.

BS 25999-1 is a code of practice which takes the form of guidance and recommendations.  It shows the principles, processes and terminology used in business continuity management.  It also provides a basis for understanding, developing and implementing business continuity and is intended to build confidence in business-to-business and business-to-customer relationships.  In addition, it supplies a set of controls based on best practice.  This standard is intended to provide a single reference point and to be used as a best practice tool by large, medium and small businesses in all industry sectors.
