Continuity Planning

What is a Continuity Plan?

A Continuity Plan is a working document that sets out all of the procedures that need to be carried out when an 'event' occurs that disrupts your business.

An 'event' can include:

  • Loss of key staff
  • Failure of a major supplier or customer
  • Malice
  • Fraud
  • Incompetence
  • IT failure and loss of critical data
  • IT virus infection or hacking incident
  • Personal injury claim
  • Fire or Flood
  • Bomb Damage/Explosion

Few businesses plan for such events which can put future success at risk.

'A single event costing just 5% of your annual turnover can finish your business' (Institute of Directors)

Why you need a continuity plan

With an increasing reliance on IT systems and equipment, businesses of all sizes are becoming more vulnerable to theft, data loss, data corruption and virus infection.  Fire and flood still account for 20% of events that are likely to put a company out of business and surprisingly, 30% of incidents occur due to malice, fraud or misuse.

By developing and maintaining a business continuity plan, you can ensure that your business will recover quickly and effectively with minimum disruption and loss.
